New Windlass and Mast Rails

The old windlass had seized and while i potentially could be fixed, and I checked on needed parts that were pretty expensive,  it lacked a reversing motor and I didn’t trust it.  Decided on New Lofrans which was powerful and much more compact.  The old windlass was a bear to get out - notice the heavy hammer and crowbar.


The pictures also give a good idea of life aboard during winter = under the shrink wrap.


I had designed mast rails for PEREGRINA and had them made by Tops-in-Quality out of Michigan.  They did a great job, but If mounted where planned using a winch would be a very cramped undertaking so had to move outboard - which of course complicated things...
